Outcome: Understand the difference between your hub contacts and your registry, and how you can use InvestorHub as a CRM
Contacts Vs. Shareholders
When a user signs up to your hub, InvestorHub automatically creates a contact for this user and links them to any shareholders that have the same email address. This allows you to connect hub users to your registry, as well as link shareholders to custom contacts that you can create.
Finding a contact
There are two ways you can actually navigate to a contact's page:
Through the Investor hub page, by clicking on the user's name; or
By navigating to Investor Search, under the Investors tab of the navigation pane. We cover this section of the platform in "Making the Most of Your Investor Search"
Editing a contact
Once you have navigated to a contact, you'll be able to see all the information they have entered into the hub as well as any information about shareholdings they have automatically been linked to.
This information includes:
Contact information, specifically name, email, contact number and address
An investor hub profile tab to see the information they input into the hub
Customised tags that you can create to distinguish a shareholder and more easily locate them in searches.
Shareholdings for any linked accounts as well as the ability to manually link any shareholdings you know are related to this individual or organisation; and
An activity log of all movements, comments and actions made by the individual and their linked shareholdings, as well as the ability to log your own activities, such as conversations or calls with the individual.
This allows you to keep track of interactions with your shareholders as well as with investor hub users.
What is the difference between a shareholder and a contact?
A shareholder is someone on your registry whose information cannot be edited. When you navigate to a shareholder's page, you'll find objective, unedited data about them. Contacts, on the other hand, are a way for you to keep track of your hub users and individuals you may have spoken to in person or over email, as well as a way for you to link shareholdings to a contact.
Will editing a linked contact edit a shareholder?
No, you cannot change any information about a shareholder so don't worry about that. If you link a shareholder to a contact, any edits you make to the contact won't affect the shareholder. The purpose of linking shareholders to contacts is to better keep track of your shareholder's movements and to be able to add tags, comments or update contact information without affecting the data we pull from your registry.
